Fix An Underbite Without Surgery

Helmet, a season in hell

of Matteo Monaco

Registration is lean, neurotically down attacks from the first second, followed by geometric mess of guitar, but could be more, while the battery is engaged in furious silence and chaos rule. The Scream
patient who starts this premeditated violence can only be of Page Hamilton, singer and guitarist, leader of a group that made the modern metal: the Helmet.
scholar of jazz, but apparently more interested in the music lasts, we meet some friends in 1989, including the hardcore punk drummer John Stanier.
The debut album, "Strap It On", is a bolt from the blue: the violence becomes music for the first time hypnotic repeated and rhythmic, almost an evolution from the blind fury of "Reign In Blood" Slayer of the metal towards a more nuanced, perhaps more disturbing.
"Repetition" is the anthem of this change:

Helmet - Repetition by bruceistherealkiller

This metal is impure, tinged punk as a maniacal precision, so foreign to the kind and approachable for advanced studies in Hamilton. The voice of the singer then, completes the picture of suffering and lament played by the team, yelling at random times, always painful, coming from the dirtiest basements.

The brutality of "Strap It On", published in 1990, remains virtually unchallenged in the years to come, and brings the whole band hordes of fans.
The formula of the group is new and successful, but have an appointment with the second album is partially revised.
"Meantime" is the twin paranoid and ultra-clean debut album, which was still under the mediation architecture rhythmic sounds dirty and demanding. The peculiarity of the new work is an unexpected work on guitars, now merged with the rest of the group to create the soundtrack to a mental hospital antiseptic.
"Unsung" becomes the icon of a collective reached full maturity, and perhaps beyond:

This second album reaches one million copies sold, proving to be an alternative to the prevailing grunge sound of the time, and meeting the affection for this reason the "big" government. Unfortunately
subsequent discs, you want to continue the revolution in training, either by choice of bad taste (see the pseudo-grunge of "Betty"), will not prove up to these first two buds.
Helmet are still active, and released the last album in September 2010.

The little relevance of the latest entries does not change the status of the fundamental group of 90s, not only for the quality of the first publications, but also for the decisive influence that this "new" music had on the nu-metal movement, with Deftones, Korn and his companions in the front row.
